RPG's research lab has earned an international reputation for innovative acoustics research. This research has been presented in technical sessions at acoustical conferences and published extensively in peer review journals. RPG also provides research bulletins on its website to advance the science of acoustics. RPGŪ research has resulted in numerous acoustical patents and trademarks. The world's first apparatus to measure and quantify sound diffusion was developed as part of the RPGŪ sponsored DISC Project. This research led to the formation of the Audio Engineering Society's working group for the Characterization of Acoustical Materials, which is chaired by Dr. D'Antonio.

RPG Research

RPGŪ collaborates with the international research community and has co-funded the EPSRC grant for the development of a room acoustic diffusion coefficient. This parameter will help improve the accuracy of geometrical room modeling programs and evaluate potential diffusing surfaces.

RPGŪ's labs are equipped with diffusion coefficient measurement goniometers, reverberation room, low frequency impedance tubes, flow resistance apparatus, computerized measurement equipment, and a listening and auralization lab. RPG utilizes proprietary predictive boundary element and geometrical image modelling programs and proprietary multidimensional optimization software for room dimensioning, speaker/listener placement, and surface shaping.
