RPG
Wrote The Book On Diffusion… and Absorption
The
history and evolution of the sound diffusion industry cannot be written
without including the pioneering contributions made by RPG Diffusor
Systems, Inc., which continue to shape the future of the industry. RPG
introduced the first commercial sound diffusor 20 years ago on December
15, 1983 and its products, research, publications and educational efforts
have brought the industry to where it is today. Dedication and commitment
to fundamental acoustics research have propelled RPG into its current
position of industry leadership and innovation in the commercial architecture,
pro audio and home theater markets. To help celebrate these two decades
of innovation, RPG is publishing a comprehensive acoustical text book
and launching a new generation of sound diffusors.
New
Book
The history of what is currently known about diffusion and absorption
has been compiled in a major new research text for Spon Publishers entitled
“Sound Absorbers and Diffusers: Theory, Design and Application”,
authored by Dr. Trevor J. Cox and Dr. Peter D’Antonio. Publication
is expected in the beginning of 2004. View
Table of Contents. Available February 13, 2004 on Amazon
Next
Generation of Diffusors
In addition, on this 20th Anniversary, RPG launches a new generation
of diffusive surfaces based on the patent pending concept of Aperiodic
Modulation of a Single Asymmetric Base Shape. This new technology is
the culmination of 20 years of research on optimizing the performance
of number theory diffusors and introducing new custom optimized architectural
diffusive shapes and materials. The new modulated and optimized traditional
QRD® looking diffusors are called Modffusors™ and the new
curve optimized and modulated shapes are called Waveform™. Both
new products can be used to “tile” large areas without periodicity
effects, offering the shape of the future and the highest level of diffusive
performance to date.
Stay
tuned and RPG will be announcing events throughout the year to thank
the many acousticians, architects, sound contractors, studio and home
theater designers who have help us make this dream a reality.
