Luzerne
Culture and Congress Center,
Luzerne, Switzerland
The
new cultural and congress center of Luzerne has been internationally
recognized: on the one hand because of its spectacular architecture
carried out by the Parisian architect Jean Nouvel and on the other hand
because of the excellent acoustic qualities of the concert hall.
Luzerne now possesses a new emblem in its water fountain and concert
hall. Various Topakustik
products were used to satisfy the requirements of the architect and
noted acoustician Russel Johnsen. More than 16,000 square feet (1500
square meters) of cherry and maple veneers were used. Topakustik wall
treatments provided reflections for the stage area and Johnsen carefully
verified the assembly of the reflectors.
Maple Topakustik of the type 13/3M11.8
was implemented for soloists as well as for the orchestra located at
the rear of the stage. In accordance with the instructions of Johnsen,
the absorbing and reflecting zones were alternated. However, both absorbing
and reflecting surfaces were provided with a Topakustik groove to create
a homogeneous appearance.
All the walls down to the finished floor and cabinet facades are equipped
with Topakustik. This application reflects the acoustical and aesthetic
versatility of the Topakustik system.
