Happy Holidays from RPG
All of us at RPG wish you and your families a very happy holiday season. We hope you take time to be with your loved ones.
This time of year is usually slow at RPG. However, this year we are busier than ever and we are thankful for
this blessing. Our goal for this monthly newsletter is to provide acousticians quick access to information we hope you find useful in your daily practice.
We appreciate your comments and suggestions.
If you miss an effusor edition, all previous issues are now on line.
Product Profile: Waveform Monoradial The Monoradial
is a single radius arc in veneered or painted wood or GRG. While not as high
performance as other Waveform products, it is very often specified and we now offer a competitively-priced, quality version of this classic shape.
I mention this, because acousticians may not be aware that RPG now offers the widest range of acoustical surfaces in the industry,
not only our pioneering number theoretic shapes. This year RPG produced hundreds of Monoradials. Dead hung suspension is simple with included cable assembly.
Product Evaluations
Over the past 23 years, RPG has discovered how to design,
predict, optimize, measure and characterize scattering surfaces. As competitors attempt to copy our old technology,
this knowledge allows us to continually innovate and evolve our products. To the left we show a comparison between
the venerable QRD (right) and the new and advanced
Modffusor (left). Please visit our competitive
product evaluations site to learn the difference.
Testing, testing....
RPG offers free project related acoustical testing to the acoustical community for the random incidence absorption coefficient, using our
rev room and normal incidence absorption coefficient, using our mid-high and low-mid frequency impedance tubes. We also
can measure the directional absorption coefficient, the diffusion coefficient and the scattering coefficient,
using our 2D goniometer (pictured). Jonathan Rathsam, an RPG intern last summer, presented our findings on the directional
absorption coefficient at the ASA in Hawaii. To learn the difference between the diffusion and scattering coefficients, study the measurements
for our QRD 734 and
Electronic Architecture
The new SIAP Mark IV represents
the next generation in electronic architecture systems, offering
the industry’s most powerful time constant reverberation processor.
The standard system offers 4 mic inputs, 6 line inputs and
up to 64 outputs with up to 128 programmable FIR filters,
each with separate frequency dependent early and diffuse reflections,
density and length. RPG will sponsor training sessions at our facility in the first quarter of 2007, so
stay tuned!
NCAC
To strengthen our industry, we encourage all acousticians to consider joining the
National Council of Acoustical Consultants. RPG has supported the NCAC
with our educational centerfold for many years. We invite you to read
Diffuse Reflections Volume 11, Issue 3 and all online previous issues, as well as our view
of the State of Our Industry.
