RPG effusor Newsletter - October 2006

Greetings
RPG has experienced more than 60% growth in the last year and I have not had the opportunity to communicate directly with the acoustical community as often as I would like to. This effusor Newsletter is a personal message from me that is intended to provide specifying acousticians with up to the minute information on acoustics research, new products, competitive product evaluations and services. Our Diffuse Seminars at RPG have been a very popular continuing education series for many acousticians over the years, but we wanted to institute an additional way for senior acousticians and principals of acoustical consultancies to spend a day with me discussing topics of mutual interest and touring RPG’s growing manufacturing and research facilities. To this end, last year we started "A Day with Dr. Diffusor" and it has been an absolutely enjoyable and mutually rewarding experience for those that have attended thus far. All expenses are paid by RPG, just contact me to arrange a date.

RPG will be attending Greenbuild International Conference & Expo and exhibiting with our LEED Accredited Professional partner PCD Engineering Services November 15-17, 2006 at the Colorado Convention Center, Denver. Please stop by and visit.

Coming Soon
Pannello is an acoustical panel covered with a paintable, non-woven glass matte, giving the appearance of painted drywall or plaster. The Pannello-A Panel has an absorptive core. The Pannello-D Panel has our patented B.A.D. diffsorptive core. We will notify you when more information is available.

New Product
RPG is now introducing Reapor - a new 100% recycled, sintered glass absorber for indoor and outdoor use. Non-combustible, easy to install and excellent absorptive qualities. We are now taking orders for this product, please call for current lead times.

Testing, testing....
After many years of research and standards meetings, the measurement technique to determine the random incidence scattering coefficient has been published, ISO 17497-1. It is for computer modeling and should NOT be used to evaluate the quality of diffusion. This is determined by the diffusion coefficient as published in AES-4id-2001 JAES, Vol. 9 (3), pp. 148-165 (March 2001).

Product Evaluations
After 23 years of dedicated research and development of scattering surfaces, diffusion is becoming a household word and a few traditional fabric panel and noise control companies have attempted to copy our products. Since we literally wrote the book on diffusion, we will always be ahead of any aspiring competition. To keep you advised of why these attempts to copy or avert patent infringement have failed, we are currently testing 1:5 scale models of our products and counterfeits, which we fabricate using our CNC router or 3D rapid prototyping. The photo is a 1:5 3D printed version of our Skyline. Please visit our competitive product evaluations site for more information.

New Product
The new SIAP Mark IV represents the next generation in electronic architecture systems, offering the industry’s most powerful time constant reverberation processor. The standard system offers 4 mic inputs, 6 line inputs and up to 64 outputs with up to 128 programmable FIR filters, each with separate frequency dependent early and diffuse reflections, density and length. Besides the standard system a small room system with 16 outputs is also available.
