We wish all of you a wonderful and safe holiday season and a happy and successful New Year. We would like to thank all of you for supporting
RPG and it only strengthens our resolve to continue to expand the acoustical palette through a commitment to fundamental acoustic research. We are
proud to be the acoustic industry's leading innovator for 26 years, which could not happen without your continued support.
Learn how to isolate a sport or fitness floor
If you have to isolate the noise of a sports or fitness facility located above a commercial business, then you will be interested to read
a new white paper completed by RPG and CDM. The study determines the frequency range of the interfering airborne noise, using both
an accelerometer and sonometer. A design suggestion is presented using a vented version of the DPM roll out isolation floor, which consists of recycled polyester instead of traditional fiberglass
and embedded low resonant frequency elastomer pads, to lower the combined system resonance to roughly 15 Hz.
RPG BAD Woodgrain Featured at the Newseum
The Newseum is a 250,000 square foot museum that focuses on news, its history and its modern technology. The museum features 7 floors of
galleries, theaters, exhibits and retail spaces. The RPG BAD Expo panel in American Cherry finish is utilized in several of the smaller
theaters as well as a large gallery space. The panels are utilized in rear wall areas of several small theaters that have open walls and
are directly adjacent to one another. The panels help to reduce sound levels between theaters while
creating an ideal listening environment with diffuse reflections within each theater. The panels are also utilized in the 9/11 Theater as
well as the Big Screen Theater that features a 100-foot-long video wall that presents historic news broadcasts and original documentaries.
The architect for this project was Polshek Partnership Architects, New York, NY and the acoustician was SH Acoustics, Milford, CT.

Swarthmore College
RPG has materials in two of the residence halls located at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA. The main lobby entrance areas for both halls
utilize Topakustik panels for their ceiling surfaces. This helps to reduce overall sound level in these areas and provides a warm wood
aesthetic. The panels are suspended via the TopAkustik Z-grid System with grooves held back from the perimeters. The finish is a custom stain on
American Maple. Both ceiling areas also incorporate linear diffusers and lighting. The acoustician on this project was Acentech, Cambridge, MA and
the architect was William Rawn Associates, Boston, MA.
Educational Opportunities from RPG
RPG will be increasing its edcuational offerings in the New Year for both architects and acousticians. The AIA/CES accredited presentation has been
updated with emphasis on product applications, finishes and installation. The Acoustical Continuing Education (ACE) program has also been updated
with follow up Workshops available in the field or via GoToMeeting. These GoToMeetings will be offered weekly and acousticians can choose from
a published list of topics including Products Descriptions, Applications and Research. Special GoToMeeting requests are also available on a topic
of the specifier's choosing. We look forward to this expanded collaboration and invite you to take advantage of it.
