Greetings from RPG
This year's Acoustician's Only Seminar was a resounding success and the after party on the historic Annapolis waterfront was great fun.
I want to thank all of the acousticians who attended this years event.
The consensus was that the sessions were informative, the factory tour
and the new rapid prototyping demo were enlightening and the demonstration of the new SIAP MKIV enhancement system, with a French Horn performance by Chris Brown, was sensational. A photo of the
attendees in the SIAP demo and seminar room is shown above. Please try to join us
next year.
The Special Session on "In-situ measurements of absorption coefficients" at ASA in Salt Lake City was very well attended and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with
many of you over drinks and/or dinner. Tim Leishman did a wonderful job in organizing events and special field trips. Thank you Tim.
It may be confusing to have two coefficients that characterize scattering. Please remember to request the diffusion coefficient if you are evaluating how uniformly a surface scatters sound
and the scattering coefficient if you need random incidence data for your computer modeling program. RPG has a complete list of "Modeling Coefficients" for CATT and EASE (bottom right sidebar bucket).
To help clarify any confusion,
RPG has collaborated with the international community to publish "A Tutorial on Scattering and Diffusion Coefficients from Room Acoustic Surfaces",
Acta Acustica, Vol. 92, 1-15 (2006). Reprints are available.
Please note that RPG will be closed for our summer shutdown August 13-17th. If you miss an effusor edition, all previous issues
are now on line.
Did You Know? Rapid Prototyping
RPG announces a new capability to service the architectural acoustics community. RPG's new rapid prototyping 3D printer offers the capability to fabricate
physical scale models of RPG products and potential scattering shapes of interest. Now we can offer model fabrication, diffusion coefficient testing to evaluate the uniformity
of diffusion and scattering coefficients for use in modeling programs. This is an exciting new frontier that we are excited to explore and pioneer. We invite your comments.
No other acoustical manufacturer can offer the capability to acoustically evaluate scattering surfaces. To learn more download the
RPG Rapid Prototyping System brochure.
RPG School Solutions
The modern school is a microcosm of all venues in which RPG has developed time proven acoustical designs and systems. RPG now offers a complete range of products for
classrooms, lecture halls, auditoria, music practice and rehearsal rooms, gymnasiums, swimming pools, meeting/conference/teleconference rooms, recording and broadcast studios,
computer rooms, laboratories, power generation and HVAC facilities. Together all of these different acoustical environments comprise the modern school.
Many of the factors contributing to improved learning environments are incorporated in the LEED green school initiatives by the USGBC, of which RPG is a member. RPG is poised to provide
complete school solutions, based on its 25 years of leadership in the architectural acoustics industry. Embrace innovation, forget tradition.

Career Opportunities
This summer we continue our annual intern research program with the University of Hartford. We encourage all acoustics programs to participate in this educational opportunity.
To explore a career at RPG, please contact Dr. Peter D'Antonio.
