Greetings from RPG
If it's June, it's time for our annual Acoustician's Only Seminar at RPG on June 22nd. We have 20 acousticians joining
our party so far and room for more, so please check your schedules and call us to reserve a seat.
This year we will demo our new SIAP MKI V installation. Above is a recent seminar photo.
We also hope to also see you at the ASA in Salt Lake City. Dr. Christian Nocke and I
will be chairing a session entitiled "In-situ measurements of absorption coefficients". This is a standardized technique to obtain realistic absorption coefficients for historic renovations, existing installations and also for computer room modeling programs.
Following the publication of ISO 17497-1, a few labs around the world have implemented the standard for scattering coefficients. Unfortunately, new manufacturers
entering the diffusion market are mistakenly submitting scattering coefficients, intended only for computer modeling programs, as proof of diffusion performance, instead of the appropriate diffusion coefficient, according to AES-4id-2001.
To help clarify the confusion, RPG has collaborated with
the international community to publish "A Tutorial on Scattering and Diffusion Coefficients from Room Acoustic Surfaces", Acta Acustica, Vol. 92, 1-15 (2006). Reprints are available.
Please note that RPG will be closed for our summer shutdown August 13-17th. If you miss an effusor edition, all previous issues
are now on line.

Did You Know?
RPG has pioneered sound diffusion technology for 25 years and the RPG Diffusor System is specified worldwide. However, did you know that the RPG Absorbor System
offers the most extensive range of sound absorbing products in the industry.
RPG Absorbor System
RPG Waveform Systems
RPG now offers the industry's most extensive range of GRG optimized shapes in four options, the simple single radius Monoradial, the Biradial,
the Spline and the Bicubic. All shapes are optimized using RPG's proprietary Shape Optimizer software, which no other company can offer.
The RPG Waveform is being specified in ceiling and wall projects worldwide, with manufacturing in North America, Europe and Asia.
For more information, you can download the
RPG GRG Waveform brochure.
Career Opportunities
This summer we continue our annual intern research program with the University of Hartford. We encourage all acoustics programs to participate in this educational opportunity.
To explore a career at RPG, please contact Dr. Peter D'Antonio.
