RPG Celebrates Silver Jubilee
October was a very busy month, with extended-hours production to meet increased demand for our products. RPG exhibited at the AES in New York and we enjoyed visiting with many of our studio design colleagues. We also met with
RPG Korea and the design team for the new Samsung Electronics Seocho Headquarters. Tom Ryan led tours to RPG installations at Carnegie Hall/Zankel Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center and the new New York Times Tower.
Sarah Brown and I had the pleasure of hosting an enjoyable day and evening dinner with Ken Dickensheets, Dickensheets Design Associates. We invite you all to consider our open invitation to spend a
day with me for acoustic discussions on mutually interesting topics and a tour of our manufacturing and research facilities.
Did You Know? Here, There and Everywhere
We would like to introduce you to RPG Korea. Mr. Wongab Choi, studied acoustics in the US, while
working as an intern at RPG. Upon returning to Korea,Choi established RPG Korea, which is emerging as a leading consultancy attracting a growing number of interesting projects.
One of the current projects is the new headquarters for Samsung Electronics, which is located in a new 1-trillion-won IT and electronics-convergent office complex,
dubbed the Seocho Samsung Town, in southern Seoul.
Completed Projects
Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland was designed by Grimm + Parker Architects. The school includes two, three-story wings that house classrooms, as well as
state-of-the-art support spaces, such as media center and television studio, auditorium and black box theatre, dining area, music and art rooms and physical education spaces. RPG Waveforms are
pictured on the ceiling of the auditorium and are becoming the preferred choice for ceiling treatment.
University of Singapore
The new facility at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of the National University of Singpore is a true case study in acoustical design collaboration. The initial consultation began with discussions
on diffusion for the control and tracking rooms between the acoustical consultant, Kahle Acoustics, the architect, RSP Designers and Planners, audio design director Alan Kefauver,
director of recording arts at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and RPG. RPG worked closely with the design team, which also included Gene Aitken,
the conservatory director and Eastlake Audio UK Ltd, the studio integrator, to provide state of the art diffusion and advanced product design integration.
McKnight Hall at Chautauqua
The Chautauqua Institution is a not-for-profit, 750-acre educational center beside Chautauqua Lake in Albany, New York. It offers programs in the Arts, Education,
Religion and Recreation. This innovative institute is undergoing renovation and RPG is proud to have been specified by Seth Waltz of AVL Designs, Rochester, NY. Seth has also incorporated,
the RPG Woodgrain Waveform, see in the photo, in the renovation of Massry Center for the Arts, which is in progress with Saratoga Associates Architects.
