RPG Continually Evolving
This summer we have fully characterized the diffusion, scattering and absorption coefficients of our products according to
current and pending standards. The top row shows three Modffusors being tested, a comparison of the diffusion coefficients
for the sample and a reference reflector and the normalized diffusion coefficient. The remaining 1/3-octave polar plots compare
the sample with the reference reflector for 60 degree incidence. At 4 kHz, note how the reflector scatters specularly in the -60
degree direction and the Modffusor scatters uniformly.
This fall we will be welcoming many visits by architects and acousticians for our Continuing Education Series of
Diffuse Seminars. If you would like to join us, please contact RPG or a
Rep in your area.
Introducing the CDM-ISO-CCO
The patent pending CDM-ISO-CCO acoustic suspension system is the perfect choice to safely capture a standard steel hat
channel for ceiling drywall mounting. It can be used with a choice of CDM-79 and CDM-80 elastomers, with different stiffnesses
to accommodate different ceiling weights. The resonant frequencies are 14 and 12.8 Hz.
Please contact Tom Ryan (tryan@rpginc.com), Director of RPG's Noise and Vibration Division, for more information.
Waveform at the College of Saint Rose Recital Hall, Instrumental and Choral
Rehearsal Rooms.
RPG is proud to have been specified on the renovation at Massry Center for the Arts Recital Hall and Instrument and Choral rehearsal rooms.
In this newsletter we feature the innovative rehearsal spaces, followed in the next newsletter with the Recital Hall. Seth Waltz of AVL Designs, Inc.,
Penfield, NY specified RPG's new Waveform Gaussian molded hardwood optimized diffusors for both wall and ceiling application. The ceiling design is
also complemented with additional Waveform GRG Bicubic diffusors. The architect on the project was William G. Koonz II of Saratoga Associates, Saratoga
Springs, NY who beautifully integrated these acoustic elements into an attractive and visually stimulating space. Acoustical objective measurements and
subjective impressions indicated a uniformity of sound throughout the entire rehearsal space with excellent envelopment. The contractor was Scott
Hawkins, Sano-Rubin Construction Services, Albany, NY.
Announcing the Harmonix-G GRG 2'x2' diffusive ceiling tile
The 4'x4' GRG Waveform Bicubic diffusor has found widespread use in schools and worship spaces.
Typically these products were either surface mounted or suspended with cables. The Harmonix-G offers the convenience of mounting in a standard 15/16" T-bar
grid. The Harmonix-G is acoustically optimized and asymmetric allowing aperiodic modulation. However its sides are identical allowing the tile to be mounted
in any orientation with continuous seams. Embedded metal loops are also provided for seismic fixation. For more information please download the
Harmonix-G brochure.
RPG Triffusors, Omniffusors and Formedffusors Featured at 909 Kapiolani The RPG
Triffusor,
FRG Omniffusor and Formedffusor
were used to create a variable acoustics environment in the studio in the Musician's Association Building. The Triffusors contain absorptive, reflective and
diffusive side and can be rotated into any orientation (shown with all absorptive sides selected). Acoustician: DL Adams (HI), Architect: Parker Durant
Architects (MN & HI) and Installer: BEK, Inc.
