Avenue Edit, Chicago

Designed by the Janson Design Group of New York, the latest edition to Avenue Edit's post production and special effects production facility in downtown Chicago are three new, 5.1 high end audio post/mixing suites, complete with individual isolation booths, a foley stage and related client amenities.

The three rooms are technically and acoustically identical in design with the exception of area rugs and furniture in order to keep the rooms more flexible in their scheduling capacity. With high end users and clients both, the rooms needed to sound and perform really good as well as cater to a professional and visual aesthetic.

For acoustic performance, RPG DiffractalŽ panels were used in the rear of the rooms to control reflections and provide diffusion. The DiffractalŽ panels are flush mounted into bass traps at the rear wall to provide for low frequency absorption as well.

Because of the wood floors and some of the more reflective elements around the mix position, FlutterFreeŽ strips were custom fitted to a slightly curved panel and hung over the mix position to control both diffusion and reflections. Isolation and foley rooms were fitted with RPG SkylineŽ diffusors on the ceiling to control reflections and provide uniform distribution of sound.
