Overview
Today's requirement for sophisticated, complex, multi-functional buildings within a metropolitan context, provides many noise and vibration challenges. Sources of noise such as road, rail, industry and air traffic may alone but more often together impinge upon a building. The effect of noise-producing spaces adjacent to noise-sensitive spaces is a perpetual issue, especially in cities. The internal building services such as elevators, air-conditioning equipment and stand-by generators all require careful consideration of the potential vibration issues that they may cause.
Using this information in conjunction with other data, such as required acoustic performance and structural loadings, enables our highly skilled engineers to assist designers in selecting the optimum noise and vibration solution for each particular area. Solutions range from base building isolation and other structural isolation bearings, individually isolated floors, walls and ceilings, or a combination to create high performance "box-in-box" solutions.
