RPG Diffusor Systems, Inc. is unique in the home theater industry. This
is due to its product quality, breadth of its expertise, commitment to
acoustics, materials research, publication in peer review journals, continuous
innovation and educational outreach. RPG® participated in the first
CEDIA educational seminars in Amelia Island and has remained a staunch
supporter. RPG® also regularly contributes to educational seminars
at other home theater industry trade shows such as HT Now. While many
home theater acoustical designs simply and ineffectively involve only
analog upholstered absorptive panels, RPG® technology addresses all
of the potential forms of acoustic distortion with a broad range of acoustical
solutions.
In 1983, RPG® introduced digital acoustics and the concept of passive
surround sound to high-end stereo listening rooms. As the industry evolved
from stereo to multi-channel music formats, RPG® has evolved its
passive surround digital acoustic products to enhance the potential envelopment
and immersion possible in acoustically well designed multi-channel surround
formats.
RPG®
was founded by Dr. Peter D'Antonio (AKA Dr. Diffusor)
RPG®
was founded in 1983 by Dr. Peter D'Antonio, a physicist and acoustician
with an international reputation. Dr. D'Antonio has numerous publications
in reviewed scientific journals, text books, and magazines, many registered
trademarks and patents and has been an altruistic educator in seminars
offered at the Audio Engineering Society (AES), Synergetic Audio Concepts,
CEDIA, NSCA, Acoustical Society of America, National Council of Acoustical
Consultants, etc. He is a Fellow of the AES, a Fellow of the Acoustical
Society of America, a professional affiliate of the American Institute
of Architects, Chairman of the AES Characterization of Acoustical Materials
committee, member of the ISO Random Incidence Scattering Coefficient working
group and adjunct professor of acoustics at the Cleveland Institute of
Music and the Peabody Conservatory of Music. His research has also been
extensively covered in several text books including, The Master
Handbook of Acoustics, by F. Alton Everest and Sound System
Engineering, by Don and Carolyn Davis and ‘Acoustic
Absorbers and Diffusers: Theory, Design and Application’, by Trevor
Cox and Peter D’Antonio.
Dr. D'Antonio has
also been associated with the music industry since 1973 as a musician,
recording engineer and audiophile. In 1973 he designed Underground Sound,
the prototypical studio which set the stage for modern control room design.
This studio defined the philosophy of combining a reflection-free zone,
RFZ™ around the mix position and a diffuse zone using RPG® diffusors
in the rear, to provide passive surround sound.

Products: AcousticTools™ for Home Theater, Stereo Listening
and Media Rooms
To address all of the potential forms of acoustic
distortion, we have created Spatial, Imaging, Combination, Bass Management,
and Software Tools.
| Imaging
Tools |
| Imaging Tools absorb reflections from the room’s boundary
surfaces, which cause comb filtering and corrupt the soundstage,
image size, and timbre.
|
|
| Bass Management Tools |
Bass Management Tools minimize room resonances
and speaker boundary interference effects to provide a more
uniform room response.

|
|
| Software Tools |
|
Software Tools minimize acoustic distortion by optimizing
the location of loudspeakers and acoustical surface treatments
in relation to the listener.

Theater Products: The RPG Home Theater Advantage
Reasons
to choose RPG®
|
Complete Digital Acoustical Palette
RPG® offers the widest range of Digital and Anaolog Acoustic
products to address the conventional projects as well as the
challenging leading-edge theaters. No other company offers the
range of standard and custom designed and fabricated products
as RPG®. These products form a complete digital acoustical
palette of AcousticTools™ to address the home theater
and home listening environments.
Digital Acoustics
Home Theater is all about being immersed and enveloped in the
audio / visual experience. In 1983 RPG® developed passive
digital surround sound with its number theory diffusors. Today
RPG® extends this idea to complement today's surround sound
formats. RPG® offers the widest range of
integrated passive digital and analog acoustical products.
This range of products provides performance well beyond what
can be accomplished with analog upholstered purely absorptive
panels alone.
Digital Optimization (CHAOS)
For the innovative theaters, RPG® offers acoustical consultants,
home theater designers and system integrators a boundary element,
surface shape evaluation and optimization service as part of
its Collaborative Holistic Acoustical
Optimization System. This system allows RPG® to interact
with the design team to develop customized Arcousthetic
surfaces tailored for each project to meet the requirements
of the architect, the acoustician and the client. CHAOS helps
bridge the gap between architecture and acoustics and provides
contemporary surfaces to complement contemporary architecture
the way surface relief ornamentation and statuary complimented
classic architecture.
Local Installers
In addition to providing informed local representation, most
of RPG®'s home theater
dealers are contractor based and can provide quality installation
and stretch fabric application. This adds a level of professionalism
and attention to detail that separates a good home theater from
a truly professionally crafted one.
Research
The architectural acoustics industry recently celebrated the
100th anniversary of its founding by W.C. Sabine. During this
time the acoustics industry has developed ways to characterize
and standardize sound absorption surfaces. The study of sound
scattering surfaces is still in its infancy. However, over the
past 20 years RPG® has developed and published methods
to design, measure, characterize, predict, optimize and standardize
sound diffusing surfaces. This body of work is helping acousticians
and system integrators understand how to evaluate potential
scattering surfaces, as well as how, where and when to specify
and apply them in their designs.
Cost-Effective Prices
In addition to its research commitment, RPG® is committed
to excellence and efficiency in its manufacturing. RPG®
is constantly researching new materials to meet Life Safety
requirements as well as developing new molding and manufacturing
techniques to lower cost. RPG® has also established manufacturing
locations in the UK.
Trained Representatives
RPG® products are available worldwide. RPG®'s representatives,
home theater designers and system integrators are well trained.
All reps attend training and educational seminars at RPG®
so that they can properly present RPG®'s products in a
time-efficient and professional manner. This local representation
is RPG®'s eyes and ears for management of on-going, developing,
and new projects.
Proven Track Record
RPG® is an enduring company that has established a reputation
for quality products, continuous acoustical innovation and a
long list of satisfied customers. This means RPG® has provided
excellence in the past, in the present and will be there for
you in the future. RPG® has demonstrated sustained excellence.
Specifiers can rest assured that there will be no surprises.
Proven technology engenders trust, which is why the industry's
leading acousticians, home theater designers and system integrators
specify RPG®. Listen to the Music, Not the Room!
