Encounters with Aliens on this Day August 19
August 19
1947 – On an overcast evening a procession of over 35 UFOs was seen over the city of Twins Falls, Idaho at 9:30 p.m. by several independent witnesses. (Sources: J. Allen Hynek, The Hynek UFO Report, p. 39; NICAP UFO Investigator, February 1978, p. 4).
1949 – Two prospectors named Fitzgerald and Garney in Death Valley, California allegedly observed a disc-shaped object land. Two dwarfs emerged but were lost in the sand dunes when pursued. The object disappeared. (Sources: Coral E. Lorenzen, Flying Saucer Occupants, p. 116; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 193; APRO Bulletin, June 1980, p. 4).
1949 – At 8:15 p.m. in Norwood, Ohio a searchlight illuminated a hovering round object at four miles altitude. The object glowed. The sighting lasted 165 minutes. (Source: Leonard Stringfield, Situation Red: The UFO Siege, p. 201).
1952 – At 12:50 a.m. a fast moving saucer-shaped object was tracked on radar by fighter aircraft as it flew fom the northwest to the east over the San Gorgonio Mountains in California, and then climbed into outer space. (Sources: Dominique Weinstein, Aircraft UFO Encounters, p. 18; Loren E. Gross, UFOs: A History. 1952: August, p. 49).
1952 – At 2:38 p.m. in Red Bluff, California Ground Observer Corps observer Albert Lathrop sighted two objects shaped like fat bullets that flew straight and level, very fast for 25 seconds. (Sources: Project Blue Book files counted in official statistics, case # 1928; Don Berliner, Project Bluebook UFO Unknowns; Kevin D. Randle, Invasion Washington: UFOs over the Capitol, p. 278).
1952 – On this evening Sonny Desvergers, a scoutmaster, was driving in West Palm Beach, Florida with three boy scouts when they noticed a light in the woods. He stopped the car, and he walked into the palmetto thicket to investigate while the scouts waited by the car. He walked into a clearing where it became oppressively hot and humid, smelled a pungent odor, and had the distinct feeling of being watched. Looking up, he saw a large round, dark gray body just above him. It had a somewhat concave bottom, with vanes around the edge and a dome on top. A small red fireball was emitted from the object that began to drift toward him, expanding into a cloud of red mist; as this enveloped him, he temporarily lost consciousness. When he recovered he ran for the road, and encountered the car of a deputy sheriff summoned by the boys, who had seen the red fireball strike him. His arms, face, and cap showed slight burns, and his hair was singed. At the site the grass showed scorched roots. In subsequent accounts, Desvergers said that he had climbed aboard the rim of the saucer, and had encountered three short “hideous” humanoid creatures aboard the craft, who wore grayish clothing and had a sweaty odor. 1955 – At dusk six saucer-shaped objects flew over Pisa, Tuscany, Italy in a backwards V-formation. One of the objects was larger than the others. (Sources: Richard F. Haines, Project Delta: A Study of Multiple UFO, p. 45; Loren E. Gross, The Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse: UFOs: A History. 1955: July-September 15, p. 52).
1955 – At 11:30 p.m. in Bradford, West York, England, about 700 meters away from the site of a humanoid encounter only three days before, Mr. Wood, a warehouseman, saw a bright, silvery, bullet-shaped object behind a hill. It was estimated to be about four meters in height and 1.5 meters in diameter. It had a highly polished chrome-like surface and made a high-pitched buzzing sound. (Sources: Arthur Constance, The Inexplicable Sky, p. 222; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, p. 251 (case # 371)).
1959 – At 6:55 p.m. a Mrs. Neylan reported that a vertical, luminous red object moved very fast in a straight line at high altitude over Mitchell AFB on Long Island, New York. The sighting was brief, but was part of a series of UFO sightings in Washington, D.C., other parts of New York, Trenton, New Jersey, Elburn, Illiniois and Shelton, Connecticut. (Sources: Jacques & Janine Vallee, Challenge to Science: The UFO Enigma, pp. 205-206; Preston Dennett, UFOs Over New York, p. 27).
1959 – Trenton, New Jersey. At 7:45 p.m. a witness named Salbego saw a vertical cigar-shaped object that made eight to ten 90-degree turns in the sky. It was then joined by five disc-shaped objects, and all flew off to the northeast. (Source: Jacques & Janine Vallee, Challenge to Science: The UFO Enigma, pp. 178 & 200).
1962 – In Sheffield, South York, England a photo was taken of an orange disc-shaped object that flew near a reservoir, and was partially transparent. (Sources: APRO Bulletin, July-August 1963, p. 1; Coral E. Lorenzen, Flying Saucers: The Startling Evidence of the Invasion from Outer Space, p. 213).
1962 – On this night Rivalino Mafra Da Silva and his 12-year-old son Raimundo awoke in Duas Pontes, Minas Gerais State, Brazil to see a “shadow” floating in their bedroom, “half the size of a man and not shaped like a human being.” After it went out the door, voices were heard outdoors declaring that they “would kill” Rivalino. In the morning, both father and son saw two big black-and-white globes with antenna-like appendages, floating near the door outside. They merged into one larger orb that discharged an acrid yellow smoke, which then enveloped Rivalino. When the smoke cleared, the sphere had disappeared and so had Rivalino. An area about 15 feet in diameter was left clean of dust. Rivalino was never seen again. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1962-19, citing Lt. Wilson Lisboa & Dr. Olavo T. Fontes).
1965 – At around 3:00 a.m. in Mount Airy, North Carolina a bright cigar-shaped object was seen hovering close to the ground by two women, Schumaker and Blackburn. Later, a ring depression was found on the ground, and tree damage was also found. (Sources: George D. Fawcett, Flying Saucers magazine, October 1966, p. 30 & March 1972, p. 6; Jerome Clark, Flying Saucer Review, March 1966, p. 11; Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 262).
1965 – Dora Nakamura, a waitress at the El Pollon restaurant in La Victoria, Lima, Peru reported that a “little man with green skin and only one eye in his forehead” entered the restaurant and ordered chicken “with plenty of red pepper and powdered saffron.” Speechless, Miss Nakamura served the dinner and was paid in strange coins with “indecipherable signs” on them. Attempts to investigate this report were unsuccessful. The witness, claiming she was in a “delicate state of health,” said the report had been a hoax and she would say no more about it. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1965-77, citing IPRI in Flying Saucer Review, November-December 1966).
1965 – On this day in Canete, Peru which is a small village southeast of Lima, 200 peasants affirmed that they saw “a little being with shining eyes” who came from the sky in a flying saucer. The “Institute Peruano de Relaciones Interplanetarias” investigated the case but their results are not known. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1965-76, citing a newspaper source).
1965 – At around 8:30 a.m. Yago and Payo Rodriguez, two students attending the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City, Mexico saw a large luminous disc-shaped object, surmounted with a cupola, land on tripod legs in an adjacent field. Two short, 31″ tall beings emerged from it wearing “gas masks.” They laid before the students a metal plate bearing an inscription, then got back into their craft and took off again. The metal was given to the Institute and was being studied at the time. Scorched grass and landing gear marks were found at the site. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case # 1965-37, citing John A. Keel & UPI Dispatch).
1965 – From Luumaki, Finland the Kuningas family of four–Matti, Maria, Teuvo and Tapani–went to the forest near the village of Hermunen to pick blueberries. They spread out in four directions, but always tried to keep within eye contact of each other. At about noon, two of them, the father Matti and his eldest son Teuvo, had an experience that they shared with the others only much later. When they had first arrived in the forest, Matti Kuningas had observed a large stone, or so it appeared, which he had never seen before eventhough he was very familiar with this particular place in the forest. The distance to the stone was about 30 meters, and the stone stood some two meters high and was three meters in width. On it there was some very green moss and a rowan tree. Suddenly a gust of wind arose, which astonished Teuvo Kuningas since the day had been clear and calm. Both he and his father Matti now observed from their respective positions a little man, about one meter tall, who appeared near the stone. The man’s skin was carrot red, and he wore a green overall. His head was large and his shoulders broad. Teuvo Kuningas observed a box on the man’s chest, from which came a flash. Next, the little man started to run away from the stone, and Matti Kuningas, who was closer, heard him make a moaning sound. Teuvo Kuningas heard a voice resembling human speech. Suddenly, the little man turned and ran towards Matti Kuningas. He stopped at a distance of 15 meters and for a minute or so looked at Matti. He seemed to have a human like face, but it looked elderly. Then he turned and started to run away. When about 50 meters from Matti he did a somersault and disappeared. Teuvo saw the disappearance as well, but he also saw the man reappear closer to him. He now felt deterred by some unknown force, and could not even look at the man properly. He could not move either, and at the same time he also smelled a terrible odor in the air. After the man had again disappeared, he heard a noise from the direction of the stone but could see nothing. When the whole thing was over, Teuvo noticed to his astonishment that over half an hour had passed. When they were on their way home, Teuvo decided to have a closer look at the stone to see if there were any footprints. When he got closer, he also noticed something silvery gray on the surface of the moss and the little rowan tree. When he tried to touch it with his berry basket, the same unknown force deterred him again, and even turned him around and forced him to walk away. He thought of throwing a stick at it, but could not do that either. Back in the car he suddenly found himself unusually tired. He planned to tell the others about his experience, but soon it all but vanished from his thoughts. Only gradually could he recall the event, but it was six months later before he told his younger brother Tapani about it. Teuvo thought that he had been the only one to have seen the little man, but then found out that his father had also seen him. In the meantime, Tapani Kuningas became one of Finland’s leading Ufologists. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1965, citing Mervi Virtanen, UFO Finland).
1965 – A spherical UFO stopped and hovered over the Lann-Bihoue airbase in Morbihan department, France. It had two dark sections on the bottom. (Source: Jean-Frances Boedec, Les OVNI en Bretagne: Anatomie d’un Phenomene, p. 31).
1965 – At 8:20 p.m. in Cherry Creek, New York Mrs. William Butcher, her son Harold, age 17, and three other children saw a large elliptical object, with reddish vapor underneath, that came close to the ground, then shot straight up into the clouds a few seconds later. Their radio was drowned out by static, and a tractor engine stopped. When the object was on the ground, a steady beeping sound could be heard. A bull bellowed and tried to break its bonds. Afterwards, a strange odor was noticed. At the time of its departure radar tracked a momentary signal sighted near its upper limit, by Sgt. G. A. Reggie of the 763rd Radar Squadron in Lockport, New York. The next day, a purplish liquid, 2 foot x 2 foot ground marks, and patches of singed grass were found at the site by USAF Capt. James Dorsey and four technicians from Niagara Falls Air Force Base. (Sources: Project Blue Book files counted in official statistics, case # 9806; J. 1966 – Four 14-year-old boys were sleeping out in a backyard in East Liverpool, Ohio when at 12:40 a.m. they awoke to a close encounter with a hovering UFO. Three of them ran into the house; one stayed outside when a beam of light energy from the bottom of the craft hit the boy on the side of his head. His hearing was impaired for a few days after that. 1966 – At 4:50 p.m. in Donnybrook, North Dakota U.S. Border Patrolman Don Flickenger sighted a bright white, shiny thirty-foot diameter round disc made of a silvery or aluminum material. It was five meters high and tilted on one edge, and floated down the side of a hill, wobbling from side to side about three meters above the valley floor. The object moved across the valley from the southeast, climbed to about 30 meters altitude, and hovered for about one minute over a small reservoir where it assumed a horizontal position. A dome then became visible on top of the disc. It next appeared to almost land in a small field less than 80 meters away, but titled back on edge, then rose up vertically into the clouds at high speed. (Sources: Don Berliner, Project Bluebook UFO Unknowns; Jacques Vallee, Passport to Magonia: A Century of Landings, case # 788; UNICAT, case # 186, citing Bluebook).
1969 – Luis Renato Matos, a schoolteacher, was driving his sister in law and her two children from Ararauma to Campos, Brazil. At 2:50 a.m. near Macae, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil he saw a blue light which, when seen again some 200 meters ahead, now appeared as a bright blue inverted plate about 20 meters in diameter. It floated at an inclined angle 3 to 4 meters above the ground. His passengers were all sleeping at the time. As he came around a bend in the road, Sr. Renato saw five or six small human like figures less than a meter tall, all scurrying rapidly about. Each one carried an illuminated pear-shaped implement, held by a small rod; these glowed like red-hot irons. Renato sped up the car and just after he passed through Macae his headlights failed and the motor quit. He sat there for a long while not knowing what to do until, finally, he was again able to start the car and proceed. (Source: David F. Webb & Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case 1969-40, citing Richard Heiden).
1969 – At 11:00 p.m. a group of people in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada sighted a cylindrical object that hovered for some 15 minutes, pulsating in color from red to mauve. (Source: Peter Davenport, National UFO Reporting Center, Seattle, report uploaded April 16, 2005).
1970 – A ten year old student in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Malaysia reported seeing about 25 landed small objects among the bushes just outside school grounds. From each of the objects emerged a three inch tall humanoid. As he approached the UFOs the school bell rang and he returned to class and did not see the objects depart. After school six school boys in the same village reported seeing a very small disc-shaped object, blue in color, land in some bushes near their school. Five little men described as merely three inches tall emerged from the object. One was dressed in a yellow suit and the other four wore blue uniforms. They were seen installing some type of aerial on a tree branch that apparently sent out signals. The boys became frightened and ran away. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1970, case # 812, citing Ahmad Jamaluddin, FSR, Vol. 28, # 5).
1970 – On this same night Mr. And Mrs. Olaf Mohlinder were riding in a car near Narken, Sweden in a rainstorm with their friend, Assar Sandberg, who was driving. They saw in the headlights a little man on the roadway, no more than three feet tall, who raised both arms to cover his face as the car approached. There was a blinding flash and a sound like a gunshot. Sandberg slammed on the brakes. The little man was still there. They drove on by and had a brief glimpse of his apparel: he wore a grayish rain cape and a helmet like a western hat. (Source: David F. Webb and Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case 1970-15, citing Axel Franzen, FSR Case Histories # 14).
1970 – Later that same evening a 20-year-old British couple had another close vehicle encounter with a red disc-shaped UFO. At 10:50 p.m. a 20-foot diameter disc with a red glow and four lights on the underside was seen ahead of their vehicle over the roadway in Rainham, Kent, England. Their car engine died when the UFO nearly landed. (Source: FSR, January-February 1971, p. 30).
1971 – Security guard Pietro Bongiorni was standing guard at the local thermal baths in Bobbio, Italy at 7 p.m. when he saw an “object” descend from the sky. As the object approached he noticed that it was a man-shaped figure that rapidly changed direction and headed towards him. Concerned he called for other witnesses and noticed that the being flew in a crouched position resembling that of someone riding on an “invisible” motorcycle. He described the figure as human with rosy skin, long black hair, and a beard and was very tall. It hovered near the witness, staring at him with penetrating black eyes. As other witnesses approached the figure disappeared in the direction of a nearby river at a low altitude. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1971, citing Archivio SUF).
1972 – A brightly luminous bowl-shaped object hovered over Colby, Kansas at 2:07 a.m. It illuminated the terrain for more than three hours and was viewed by more than 50 people; when it left it shot straight up out of sight. (Sources: Skylook, November 1972, p. 4; FSR, November-December 1972, p. 30, citing Prairie, August 23, 1972; Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 174).
1973 – At eight p.m. residents of Buffalo Mills, Pennsylvania spotted an eight-foot tall humanoid walking casually down Main Street. The humanoid had human features with a dark penetrating gaze and wore a shimmering shiny outfit cut in an odd way. He took extremely long strides and barely seemed to touch the pavement. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database, case # 2080, citing John A. Keel, The Eighth Tower).
1976 – On this night there was a series of police and citizen reports of UFO sightings over Putnam and Westchester counties, New York in the towns of Carmel, Peekskill, Mahopac, and Yorktown Heights. (Source: John Wallace Spencer, UFO Yearbook, p. 87).
1979 – On this evening Lynda Jones and her two children were picking wildflowers on the river bank in East Didsbury, Greater Manchester, England beside some open land, when they noticed a flash of light with shades of pink, orange, and silver above a nearby golf course. Soon they saw a curious looking object descend towards the ground in an apparent crash landing. They ran up the embankment to get a better view of the sixty-foot long crescent-shaped object, which they described as resembling a gondola with a curved base and a girder-like structure, and with a reddish glow on top. It hovered only two feet above the riverbank. The witnesses felt a strange attraction to the object and began walking towards it. The next thing they remembered they were running away, and the grass around them was swaying as if in a strong wind. The UFO could be seen flying silently away. After the incident, the mother and daughter developed strange lesions on their legs, and her young son had nightmares. Under hypnosis Lynda was able to recall six “Oriental” looking beings with olive skin and dark hair. They had elongated heads and “puppet like” faces with slanted eyes. She remembered being given a gynegological exam on a table by some sort of light beam. She reported a later miscarriage and paranormal experiences. (Sources: Richard H. Hall, The UFO Evidence, Volume II. A Thirty Year Report, p. 557; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1979, case # 1583, citing Peter Hough & Jenny Randles, Mysteries Of The Mersey Valley).
1981 – On this afternoon Mrs. Warmouth was driving along a highway in the farm country around Franklin, Ohio when she experienced her second UFO abduction. A brilliant silvery object descended over her vehicle and forced her to pull off to the side of the road. She was then taken onboard by several seven-foot tall humanoid beings and examined. She was able to describe their faces as having large slanted yellow eyes, no ears, long thin noses, pointed chins, and very thin lips. She was placed in a room and saw what appeared to be electronic equipment everywhere. She was then given a glass of greenish liquid to drink, and later she awoke back in her car, unharmed but unable to account for the previous two hours of elapsed time. (Sources: Larry Hatch, U computer database, citing National Enquirer UFO Report, p. 144; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1981, case # 1093, citing Brad Steiger, The UFO Abductors).
